Introduction & our role
1.1 Who we are
Engines Market is a trading name of Engine Finders UK Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales.
1.2 Our role - important limitation
- Sell, supply, fit, repair, warranty, or store engines or any automotive parts
- Handle or process payments between you and any supplier
- Act as an agent, partner, employee, or representative of any supplier
- Provide any guarantees or warranties on behalf of any supplier
- Mediate or arbitrate disputes between you and any supplier
Our only function is to connect you with independent, third-party UK engine suppliers (“Suppliers”) so that you can request and compare quotes. Any contract for the supply of an engine, fitting services, or any other automotive work is made directly between you and the Supplier. We are not a party to that contract.
1.3 Acceptance of Terms
By using our Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use our Platform.
Definitions
In these Terms, the following words have the meanings set out below:
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Platform | The website https://enginesmarket.co.uk and any associated services we provide. |
| We / us / our | Engine Finders UK Ltd, trading as Engines Market. |
| You / your / user | Any individual or business using our Platform. |
| Supplier | An independent, UK-registered business that supplies engines or related services and is listed on our Platform. Suppliers are not our agents, employees, or partners. |
| Quote | A price estimate provided by a Supplier in response to your enquiry. A Quote is an invitation for you to negotiate with the Supplier - it is not a binding offer from us. |
| Content | All text, graphics, logos, images (including AI-generated visuals), software, and data on the Platform. |
| Personal Data | Any information relating to an identifiable individual, as defined by the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). |
Our service - what we do and what we do not do
3.1 What we do
We provide a free price comparison and lead generation service. You submit details about your vehicle and engine problem, and we share that information with our network of vetted UK Suppliers. Suppliers then send you Quotes directly.
3.2 What we do NOT do (explicit exclusions)
To avoid any misunderstanding, we expressly state that we do not:
| Activity | Our role |
|---|---|
| Sell engines | ❌ No - we have no inventory |
| Supply or deliver engines | ❌ No |
| Fit or repair engines | ❌ No - we are not a garage |
| Warrant engines or workmanship | ❌ No - warranties come from Suppliers |
| Process payments | ❌ No - payment is between you and the Supplier |
| Handle disputes | ❌ No - we do not mediate or arbitrate |
| Inspect engines or work | ❌ No |
| Endorse any Supplier's quality | ❌ No - we only apply basic onboarding checks |
3.3 Our “vetted” Supplier network - what it means
We refer to our Supplier network as “vetted”. This term means that before a Supplier can receive enquiries from our Platform, they must pass our commercial onboarding process, which includes:
- Being a UK-registered business (valid Companies House number or equivalent)
- Having a physical UK business address (not a PO Box)
- Having at least 12 months of trading history
- Having a sustained average public review score of 4.0 stars or higher across platforms such as Google, Trustpilot, and Facebook
- A guarantee or warranty of the Supplier's reliability, financial stability, technical competence, or quality of work
- A verification that the Supplier complies with all applicable laws (beyond basic company registration)
- An assumption of any liability for the Supplier's acts, omissions, or representations
You remain solely responsible for conducting your own due diligence before engaging any Supplier (see Section 5).
3.4 Supplier independence
Each Supplier operates its own business independently. We have no control over, and disclaim all liability for:
- The accuracy of any Quote
- The quality, safety, legality, or condition of any engine supplied
- The standard or timeliness of any fitting or repair work
- Any Supplier's compliance with consumer protection laws (including the Consumer Rights Act 2015)
- Any Supplier's handling of your personal data (they are independent data controllers)
3.5 Network size - no specific number
We do not represent that our Supplier network contains any particular number of Suppliers. References to “a network of vetted suppliers” are descriptive only and do not constitute a contractual promise as to the size or composition of the network.
Using our Platform - your obligations
4.1 Lawful use only
You agree to use our Platform only for its intended purpose (obtaining engine replacement quotes) and in compliance with all applicable laws.
4.2 Prohibited activities
You must not:
| Prohibited activity | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Use automated systems (bots, scrapers, crawlers) | Extracting data from our Platform without permission is prohibited. |
| Copy, reproduce, or commercially exploit any Content | Our Content is protected by copyright. You may not republish it without our written consent. |
| Submit false, misleading, or inaccurate information | Doing so may invalidate Quotes and could constitute fraud. |
| Attempt to interfere with the Platform's security or functionality | This includes hacking, introducing malware, or overloading our servers. |
| Use the Platform to harass, abuse, or harm others | Any abusive behaviour towards our staff or Suppliers will result in immediate ban. |
4.3 Consequences of breach
If you breach these Terms, we may, at our sole discretion:
- Suspend or terminate your access to the Platform
- Remove any content you have submitted
- Report your conduct to relevant authorities (including law enforcement)
- Pursue legal action against you
Your responsibilities - due diligence
5.1 Accuracy of information
You warrant that all information you submit via our Platform (including your vehicle registration, mileage, and description of the engine problem) is accurate, complete, and not misleading.
5.2 Mandatory due diligence before engaging a Supplier
Before you accept any Quote or enter into any contract with a Supplier, you must take the following steps - and you do so at your own risk:
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| Verify the Supplier | Check their company registration (Companies House), read their online reviews (Google, Trustpilot, Facebook), and search for any unresolved complaints. |
| Read the Supplier's terms | Obtain and read the Supplier's own terms of sale, warranty policy, and any fitting/service terms before you agree to anything. |
| Clarify all costs | Confirm in writing (email is best) the full breakdown of costs: engine price, delivery, fitting labour, VAT, and any potential additional charges (e.g., for ancillary parts, unforeseen repairs discovered during fitting). |
| Inspect documentation | Request images of the actual engine (if possible), warranty certificates, and any relevant certifications (e.g., BS AU257 for remanufactured engines). |
| Check insurance and premises | For fitting work, confirm the Supplier has appropriate public liability insurance and a physical workshop address you can visit if needed. |
5.3 Post-diagnosis additional costs
You acknowledge that mechanical work (including engine fitting) may reveal additional faults once work has begun. Any additional costs quoted by the Supplier for such unforeseen work are a matter for direct negotiation between you and the Supplier. We have no involvement in, and no liability for, any such additional charges.
Quotes and supplier interaction
6.1 How Quotes are provided
When you submit an enquiry, we share your details with our Supplier network (subject to the safeguards described in our Privacy Policy, including a cap of 10 Suppliers). Suppliers then send you Quotes directly - typically by email or phone.
We do not generate or verify Quotes ourselves. Quotes are provided solely by Suppliers, and their accuracy, validity periods, and any conditions attached are set by each Supplier alone.
6.2 No guarantee of Quotes
We do not guarantee that:
- You will receive any Quotes (Suppliers may decline to quote for any reason)
- Quotes will be received within a particular timeframe (email and SMS delivery is outside our control)
- Quotes will be the lowest available in the market
6.3 Direct engagement only
All communication regarding a Quote - including negotiation, specification, warranty, payment, delivery, and fitting arrangements - must be conducted directly between you and the Supplier. We are not a channel for such communications and do not facilitate them.
6.4 Quote validity
The validity period of any Quote (if any) is set by the Supplier. We do not extend or enforce validity periods. If a Quote expires, you must submit a new enquiry or contact the Supplier directly.
Intellectual property and content
7.1 Our ownership
All Content on our Platform - including text, graphics, logos, icons, images (including AI-generated visuals), software, and data - is owned by or licensed to Engine Finders UK Ltd. It is protected by copyright, trade mark, and other intellectual property laws of the United Kingdom.
You may not:
- Reproduce, copy, or distribute any Content without our prior written permission
- Use our trade marks or trading names without permission
- Frame or mirror any part of our Platform
7.2 Images - AI-generated and illustrative
Many images on our Platform are AI-generated for illustrative purposes only. They are not photographs of actual engines or vehicles available for purchase. We also use generic images sourced from public libraries or created for educational purposes under principles of fair dealing.
7.3 Copyright and takedown
We respect the intellectual property rights of others. The copyright and takedown provisions applicable to images on our Platform are set out in detail in our Privacy Policy (Section 11 - Image copyright). That section explains:
- How we source images (original photography, supplier-provided, and AI-generated)
- Our disclaimer regarding AI-generated images that may unintentionally resemble existing copyrighted works
- How to submit a copyright complaint to copyrights@enginesmarket.co.uk
- Our process for investigating and removing allegedly infringing content
By using our Platform, you agree to those provisions.
7.4 Third-party links
Our Platform may contain links to third-party websites (e.g., Supplier websites). These links are provided for your convenience only. We have no control over the content, privacy practices, or terms of those websites, and we accept no responsibility or liability for them.
Data protection and privacy
Our collection, use, storage, and sharing of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which form part of these Terms.
In particular, you acknowledge and agree that:
- We share your personal data with Suppliers (up to a maximum of 10 per enquiry) to provide Quotes - this is the core function of our service.
- Suppliers become independent data controllers for the data we share with them. Their use of your data is governed by their own privacy policies, not ours.
- We retain your enquiry data for 6 months from your last interaction, after which it is automatically deleted (unless you request earlier erasure, which is free of charge).
- You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection under UK GDPR - see our Privacy Policy for details.
If you have any data protection concerns, please contact our Data Protection Officer at dpo@enginesmarket.co.uk.
Complaints - our Platform vs Supplier disputes
9.1 Complaints about our Platform or our service
If you have a complaint about the Engines Market Platform itself (e.g., technical issues, data handling, poor service from our team), please contact us at:
- Complaints email: complaints@enginesmarket.co.uk
- General support: support@enginesmarket.co.uk
We will acknowledge your complaint within 48 hours and aim to provide a full response within 14 working days. Our formal complaints procedure is set out in our Complaints Procedure.
9.2 Supplier disputes - we do NOT mediate
- Mediate, arbitrate, or participate in negotiations
- Demand that a Supplier accept a claim or provide a refund
- Provide legal advice or representation
What we may do (limited to monitoring): We do accept complaint information at complaints@enginesmarket.co.uk for the purpose of monitoring Supplier performance. If we receive repeated, substantiated complaints about the same Supplier, or if a Supplier's public review rating falls below 3.5 stars on a sustained basis, we may remove that Supplier from our network. This does not constitute mediation and does not give you any direct remedy against us.
9.3 Fraud prevention
Limitation of liability
10.1 Exclusions of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability and responsibility to you (whether arising in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise) for any loss or damage arising from:
| Category | Examples (non-exhaustive) |
|---|---|
| Your use of, or reliance on, the Platform or any Content | Relying on an inaccurate Quote, misunderstanding our role, or failing to read these Terms. |
| Any transaction or interaction with a Supplier | Disputes over engine quality, warranty, fitting work, pricing, delivery delays, or additional costs. |
| The quality, fitness, or safety of any engine or service provided by a Supplier | A faulty engine, incorrect engine supplied, poor workmanship, or safety issues. |
| Any additional costs, delays, or losses arising from mechanical work | Labour charges for unforeseen repairs, hire car costs, lost earnings, or towing fees. |
| Indirect, consequential, or special loss | Loss of profits, loss of business or opportunity, loss of data, damage to reputation, or wasted expenditure. |
10.2 Our total aggregate liability
10.3 Nothing excludes liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015
10.4 “Goodwill” assistance
At our sole discretion, we may provide limited assistance (such as confirming that a Supplier was part of our network or providing dates of enquiry) in the event of a serious dispute. Such assistance is provided on a without-prejudice, goodwill basis and does not constitute acceptance of liability or any obligation to provide compensation.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Engine Finders UK Ltd and its directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:
- Your breach of these Terms
- Your misuse of the Platform
- Any inaccurate or misleading information you submit
- Your interaction or contract with any Supplier (including any dispute, claim, or legal action)
- Your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights

12.2 By us
We may, at our sole discretion, suspend or terminate your access to the Platform immediately and without notice if:
- You breach these Terms
- You provide false, misleading, or fraudulent information
- You misuse the Platform (e.g., automated scraping, harassment)
- We are required to do so by law
Termination does not affect any rights or obligations that have already accrued (e.g., our limitation of liability survives termination).
Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or market practice.
- Minor changes (e.g., clarifications, typographical corrections) will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
