Jaguar X-Type 2.5 V6 Engine Replacement Compare Prices & Get Quotes

A rebuilt Jaguar X-Type 2.5 V6 engine typically costs between £1,500 and £2,800 for supply only, while a reconditioned unit ranges from £1,200 to £2,400.

• Used engines are cheaper (£600-£1,500) but carry unknown history.
• Labour for supply and fit adds approximately £600 to £900 depending on the specialist.
• All EnginesMarket quotes include a minimum 12-month unlimited mileage warranty coverage.

Cooling system failure in the 2.5L V6 often presents as a sweet smell from the engine bay, visible coolant drips under the car, or an unexplained drop in the coolant reservoir level.

• Listen for a whining noise from the water pump area.
• Check for oil contamination (mayonnaise-like substance under the oil cap) indicating a severe head gasket breach.
• Overheating warnings on the dashboard require immediate shutdown to prevent catastrophic damage.

For an X-Type 2.5 V6 valued between £800 and £2,500, a full rebuilt engine may approach the vehicle's market value. However, if the chassis, interior, and transmission are in excellent condition, a specialist-fitted rebuilt or reconditioned unit at £1,500-£2,800 can extend the car's life significantly.

• Evaluate scrap or part-exchange value first if the bodywork is heavily corroded.
• A used engine (£600-£1,500) may be a viable short-term solution for budget-conscious owners.
• Rebuilt units include upgraded timing components addressing original failure points.

Most Jaguar X-Type 2.5 V6 engine swaps do not require full ECU reprogramming if you fit an identical AJ25 engine code.

• Matching engine codes usually plug-and-play without complex coding.
• However, the PATS immobiliser system may require a dealer-level diagnostic tool to pair the new engine's ECU with your car's existing security module.
• Supply and fit specialists often handle ECU pairing as part of the installation service.

Reconditioned Jaguar X-Type 2.5 V6 engines offer superior value despite a higher upfront cost, including replaced wear items like water pumps and timing guides, plus a 12-month warranty.

• Used engines may appear cheaper but lack warranty protection and risk repeating the original failure.
• Rebuilt units undergo bench testing and compression verification before dispatch.
• Supply-only pricing allows you to choose your preferred installer for best value.
