Repair options & estimated costs (UK ranges)
| Repair tier | Dealer price | Specialist price | What it involves | Longevity / suitability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minor- Preventative Gasket Check | £400- £700 | £300- £500 | Inspection and pressure testing of the cooling system. | Only viable before catastrophic overheating occurs. |
| Full Replacement- Rebuilt Engine | £2,500- £3,800 | £1,800- £2,800 | Supply and fit of a reconditioned engine with upgraded MLS gaskets and 12-month warranty. | Best long-term value; prevents recurring warping or block damage. |
Our recommendation
On an Isuzu Amigo worth £2,000-£4,000, a full rebuilt engine replacement is often more cost-effective than repeated head gasket repairs, which risk cracking the cylinder head.
